I have had four back surgeries over the last five years. I now sport a titanium plate in my neck and 2 titanium rods in my lower back. I guess you can call me the bionic woman ... just without the cool sound effects. This last surgery has taken its toll, and I am now on permanent medical leave... without pay... BUT, yes there is a but, I am still considered an employee...
I am finally up and walking with a cane, and occasionally a walker, after spending ten months of last year bedridden. For the last few months I have been holding my own private pity party, until my husband said my disability isn't stopping me from doing my art. So here I am... 50 years old and having to start over. I am afraid, lost, excited, hopeful, but I am going to finally take that step forward... even if it is just baby steps.
